Prayers for Chris
« on: September 07, 2011, 11:34:00 PM »
I was sitting here "tradganging" and hear a BAAAMM outside.  Thinking it was my mailbox getting smashed again (3 times last year, before I caught them), I threw up the window to look out and listen for the truck/car that just went by.  I hear a flop, flop, flop, flop, flop, and see a tail-light bouncing down the road - flat tire!  It was dark, so I grab a flashlight and go to the garage to get my truck jack and gloves to help change a tire or call for them a ride.

I drive down the hill a quarter mile, put on the flashers, and see this motorcycle off the side of the road - the rider to the side...the bike is on it's kickstand and the rider is on the ground in the dark sitting there -apparrently OK.  Shook up, but OK.  He's shaking and breathing deep and talking kinda quiver-like due to addrenalin.  Guys, he (by the Lord's help) manhandled that bike a QUARTER MILE down the road from about 60 mph without flipping or laying her down.  Did I say he was shook up?  He pulls out a cigarette and lit up to calm down, then laid back down on his back, got up and threw up.  He had called his parents to come get him and the bike, but his chest (pecks) and arms were hurting (I was thinking heart issues), but I think it was from him straining so hard to hold that bike up under such tremendous stress.

I told him the Good Lord just gave him a second chance and that he ought to thank Him tonight before he went to sleep (if he can get to sleep)

I told his parents the same thing - his mom hugged me and they thanked me for coming to help.

It was evident Chris and possibly his parents didn't know Christ, but he (their son) almost met Him tonight.

Please pray for Chris and his folks to be "SHOOK UP" for a while, to face eternity with an uncertainty, so that they might come to know Him, and have that PEACE in life that surpasses all understanding.

I'll follow up with them tomorrow to make sure all is physically well and also hope to check on their spiritual wellness, too.

Hug your family tonight, guys.  You never know when it will be the last one...

Thank the Lord he wasn't hurt. I am praying that the Lord will open his heart to hear the good news of eternal life. God has already opened the door for you to share with him that is for sure. I am praying that God bind the evil one away from this fellow and his parents. Lord in you great mercy please allow Mr. Tim a chance to share the most important message this fellow and his family will ever hear. I stand with this brother in asking for this protection and for this preping of his heart to allow your love to work. Father please protect Mr. Tim as well because we know that the forces of the devil will be working to keep him from being able to share with this family. God we know this was not a chance meeting this night but was arranged by you for some reason. Thank you for this and thank you for Mr. Tim's willingness to follow up in this matter. I love you and it is in your name I ask these things. Amen.......God bless you and yours.......Dusty

Tim,

May I offer my heartfelt gratitude for your witness. You humble me, Sir.

When I read things like this, I have to wonder how well or even "IF" I would have the courage and thought to do the same as you!

It's easy to come here and pray for others, but to step up and step out and be counted in the real world... I wonder if I do that or let it pass, choosing not to offend especially in work settings, etc?

Again, thank you for your efforts on our Brother's behalf (God is my father, Christ is His only son = Christ is OUR Brother)

:)  As I was typing that, I miss-typed Christ without the T and realized that this young man is named Chris...and all that is missing in his life is the sign of the Cross (T)!  That may change by your witness!

Prayers for the young man...blessing on your ministry to witness and may your follow up(s) bring that family to know Jesus!

Doc, it is you that have humbled my heart, brother. As you know to all of His, He gives various gifts to strengthen the body/church. To you he gave Encouragement and Wisdom/Discernment.  My strength is Service to others.  We are all members, but one body of Christ. I'm just so undeserving to be a part, so I serve because He gave all for me, you, and others.

Thanks for sharing with me and others Your Encouragement, Doc! It spurs us all forward, and strengthens us to His purposes.
Respectfully,

Now I need to hunt down Chris. Neither he nor his parents are in the white pages (cell phones these days).  Hope to locate him soon...

Thank, Tim.

I keep forgetting about "different gifts". Mine seems so infantile, but to others, not so. Like you, I see what I do as minimal. But your words echo back to YOU too! We are but members of the same body and none more or less of value then the other to the whole!

Check the bike shops! They might know Chris! Especially the repair ones... What a feat to keep her up! Wow! Angels are among us!

Hey Paul, You hanging in there friend? Was hoping things were better at work for you, but realize too, that sometimes when you try to do good/right, then those sharp arrows just get flung at you -sometimes head-on, other times in your back.  Just put that shield on daily, OK? and keep on the narrow, lit path.

'Preciate you Doc... now that you mention it, there is a bike shop in town - Thanks!!

There is as much evidence of good all around as there is Crap!  this is just another example!  Usually though, people fail to acknowledge on a daily basis.

Good on ya for going to help, when most people would just go to bed.
Relax,

You'll live longer!

Haven't located Chris, but I'm closer. Please continue to pray for him and his family.  I learned of a possible relative I hope to contact him through this weekend.  I also learned when Chris was a young boy, his older brother wrecked his bike at very high speed and is still paralyzed from the neck down.  I'm now sure what was going through Chris' head that night he was given that "second chance" -why he was so shook up.  He understood the consequences of a bike wreck - he has watched his big brother live them.

Praying that God continue to open their hearts to the grace provided by Jesus' sacrifice.
But his bow will remain steady, and his hands will be skillful; because of the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, because of the Shepherd, the Rock of Israel,  (Genesis 49:24 [NETfree])
