Prayers for my cousin.......Please (Update)
« on: November 03, 2011, 10:09:00 PM »
Please put my cousin on your prayer list. He will be 82 years young if he lives until the 20th of this month. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer several years ago, took some treatments but it still spread to his liver and now to his bones. It is at stage 4 now. He was hospitalized with pneumonia yesterday, my wife and I went over to visit with him this evening and he said that he was just hurting all over. There isn't anything that they can do at this point, except make him comfortable.

We had quite a talk, as we usually do when I visit him. We say that we "solved" worldly problems. His mind is good but his body is weak. He is quite a character and I have enjoyed many a talk with him over the years.

Please pray for him to be as pain-free as possible and to not suffer endlessly. I asked him before I left if he was tired........and he said "A little bit". I'm not sure whether he is ready to give up yet, but I don't want him to suffer either. A person's will cannot over-ride "God's will".......so it is truly in the Good Lords hands from this point on.

Thy will be done............

Don, prayers are up from GA for your cousin. I pray that he will be kept physically comfortable and pain free and that God will grant him  spiritual inner peace and comfort.

Praying for peace between him and Jesus so he will be ready to go when the time comes

Don,
I will join you in prayer for God's will and less suffering for your cousin.

God's will is sometimes beyond our understanding. I've seen devout believers suffer immeasurably with cancer and others glide peacefully to the end.

This might not be popular, but since God gives us all "free will" I sometimes believe that also extends to "will to live--or not".

I believe my own mother willed herself to die as she was so very tired of pain and suffering for acute arthritis, bone spurs and RA.

When she learned of bone cancer, undiagnosed and matastisized in her spine, she just went from a driven, perfectionistic, wild woman to a loving, gentle, at peace person because she was going home to be made perfect in the arms of Jesus!

She was given a prognosis of several months. She was gone in 15 days from diagnosis... amazingly, as one who did the budget all their married life, exactly 2 days before medicare "palative" care would have run out and gone to self pay at the nursing home!

Free will.  God might let us subvert His plan for our end time if we but choose that option, but someday all mysteries will be revealed.

I will pray for your cousin.. Lord in your Mercy!

Thanks everyone..........I got a report that they sent him home at 9am this morning. That is what he was wanting the other night when we visited him at the hospital. His wife got him set-up with a hospital bed, and from what I was told they had decided that there wasn't anything that they could do for him at this point.

They gave him some pain meds to take for the pain, but I'm afraid that they aren't nearly strong enough to do him much good. It was the same thing they were giving him in the hospital (vicadin).........I'm gonna make a trip out to his home to visit him on Monday and will report back.

I know this is a a gruesome topic in some ways, but Hospice is a God-send to many home-bound terminally ill patients.

They often can administer things which we lay people just call a "morphine cocktail" that seems to keep people mildly more comfortable and still lucid enough to say their good byes.

It is with a heavy heart that I share that as it brings back a mulitude of memories that are to say the least, bittersweet, of those gone on before.

Prayers for your cousin and his wife, for Peace that passes all understanding and for the Holy Spirit to minister to them both and keep him in minmal pain.

Lord, in Your Mercy...

My cousin passed away this morning at around 4:30 am. He passed, quietly in his sleep at home and is donating his body to science.

May God Bless his soul.........

Thank-You one and all for the prayers.

He now stands "perfect before Christ", free from pain, suffering, and strife.

May God keep his wife and all who loved him in His peace that passes all understanding.
