We have had two of our Grandchildren for most of the past week. Our only Grandaughter is 5 and her parents brought them to us with some antibiotics for her. She has been taking them every 12 hours........like a trooper. WHY they would prescribe a 5 year old a "chewable" antibiotic pill.........is truly beyond me. None-the-less.........she hasn't missed a dose.
Being a Respiratory Therapist, I know a "little bit" about "respiratory" problems. The dang antibiotic that they gave her hasn't done a thing except give her the diarrhea. She had a coughing spell (bronchospasms) for 45 minutes to an hour and it scared the crap out of me. We took her to the ER..........PRONTO. She couldn't catch her breath the whole coughing spell.
Her Mom and Dad met us there......after we got her signed in. We came back home and brought her older brother with us to spend the night again, rather than sit at the hospital half the night. PLEASE.........add our little "Princess" to your prayers in the days to come.
It will dumb-found me if they don't admit her for at least a couple of days. I listened to her lungs every day......numerous times and her right lung is full of junk (rhonchi). She wouldn't have slept a wink the last four nights if I hadn't went to the local pharmacy and got her some cough medicine. I think she has pneumonia in her right lung at a minimum and possibly in both.
We have NOT seen any improvement with the medicine that she has been on, and it has been plenty long enough to at least see some.
Thank-You...........in advance

P.S..........It is NOT an easy thing to leave a little one and come home, knowing that they are sick. But her parents were both there. It'll be another "sleepless" night, until we hear from them.
