Prayer Walk (updated)
« on: December 16, 2011, 09:46:00 AM »
Many of you have heard the news about David Mimms. A fellow bowyer that has been battling cancer. This happened last week but thought I would post it here because the picture has inspired many that have seen it.

Yesterday afternoon, I went on a prayer hike, or "Walk About" as Lulyn would call them. She knows, that it is where I go to recharge and spend some go quality prayer time. I went to one of my favorite spots down by the river and had been praying for a friend that is very near death. He's been in a battle with cancer for 4 years now and time is short. He conveyed his goodbye's, and concerns for his family after he is gone from this life and is taken to be with the Lord. I searched and prayed for the words of inspiration, and was moved to take my camera on the hike. As I reached the top of a small knoll I noticed these two trees leaning on one another.
As I gazed upon this monarch, my mind raced with all it had been through in it's time. I couldn't help but to notice, that as they had grown, they had weathered many storms of life together. Surely they had helped each other stand, as the winds blew strong. Even spending, many cold winter nights together, waiting out the snow, in exchange for the warmth of Spring time.
While they both wear the battle scars of the years, they are still, Standing Together. David has touched many lives and the seeds he has sown will endure as will his life in the house of the Lord.

This next picture moved my heart to tears when I first saw it on the monitor. I took the picture with the thought of capturing the "Still Waters" As The scripture Psalm 23 kept racing through my thoughts. All I saw when taking the picture was the incredible still waters. It wasn't until I downloaded them to the computer, that I saw the sideways image of a tree laying on it's side, caused only by the shadows. "Laying beside still waters" I know that David is at this point in life. A battle scarred monarch that has been poured out and now ready to lay down beside green pastures, and being led beside still waters. Just as the Lord had quikened this vs. while takeing the picture.
Ps. 23 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul. He guides me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me, your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil,my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Sometimes the finger print of the Lord is right in front of us and all we have to do is notice! God even used the shadows to illustrate that he is there, as according to his plan and timing. God Is Good! Keenan

You have a poet's heart and an artists' eye.

I'm sure your friend David is blessed by your friendship as well.

None of us stands alone... We lean on one another and when that fails, He holds us up.

Divid made a post that he is doing a little better May live longer then they thought.
I have never met David, only interacted a little on PA and a couple other sites over the years. It's amazing how, even though there is so much missuse with the internet. There is also millions of good friendships birthed in the small communities that we share.

Well said Doc.

Amen to the friendships founded in e-space.

I don't know if I'd be where i am today were it not for the prayers, support and healing found among those here and elsewhere on such forums.

Most of which, I've never met and may never meet, but their solace and kinship is as real as any I've known.

Prayers of Thanksgiving to God's touch for Dave's extra time to make peace and say "good-byes". To Him the Glory for whatever respite David gains.

Lord in your Mercy

Thank you all for your kinship and the education I get every day from you fine men.  I have seen trees holding each other up a thousand times and never put it together the way you just did Keenan.  Thank you and God bless you all!

That was a real nice piece you put together. It spoke to my heart and soul. I too have made many friends here who continue enrich my life with their wisdom and insight. Fellows who I may never meet this side of heaven but for sure will see them there. God thank you for placing them in my life. You and they know who they are........Dusty

Keenan, Very well said and from the heart. We all are just trees, standing together. Weathering the storms of life. God Bless David and his family.

Time to launch an arrow for our fellow Brother of the Bow. David will be missed by many.

This posted this evening;

written by Nancy Baldwin

David passed away quietly about 8:00 tonight central time, with his wife Donna by his side. Although we will forever miss him, we are thankful that he is now at peace. We'll be posting arrangements for visitation later.

Thanks to the many people who expressed their love for him. Your kind thoughts and prayers were comforting to him and our family.

Prayers for peace that pass all understanding for his family and those who were friends who loved him.

Ny Uncle, dying of bone cancer, kept claiming he was going to be healed by Jesus. As a young man, I questioned, "But if not, Uncle Bob, will you hold your faith?"

My Dad's brother took me and hugged me and whispered in my ear, "Even death is Christ's perfect healing, making me perfect as I stand before Him!"

35 yrs later, it still brings tears to my eyes to remember that strength of faith and peace.

May all of us as believers know such oneness with Christ.
