WOW.....
« on: January 06, 2012, 03:47:00 AM »
I haven't posted much lately. Been reading a lot but just can't get into archery lately.

I'm really trying to turn over some new leaves this year. I need to loose about 100 lbs and I need to quit chewing.

I have been walking miles and miles lately and watching what I eat. I feel really good....

I'm working on 24 hours of no tobacco for the first time in over 15 years. I am in control of this and no more will something so stupid and harmfull have so much control over me.

God bless,

Todd

Prayers for all of us to realize the value of self control. God's best to all

Todd,

not easy to do where everyone even the gals seem to have a snooze ring in their jeans back pocket.

Never got into the chew...

Prayers for God's strength in this endeavor. Left to our own strength, we often crash, but with God's strength in us, we can do much more!

If you hit a wall and stumble, just get back up and start over. Success is getting up one more time than knocked down!  :)

Hang in there guys.  I didn't chew, but I smoked, and I always heard that if you can make it for 3 weeks, you can do it for life.  God bless you and keep up the fight...you'll be glad you did!

Todd, Big challenge, BUT it will be a BIG sense of satisfaction when you beat it. Your life will be longer and better because of it. I often wonder when I guy draws his last breath what regret he must have cuz he died early of a lack of self control... You and do it!

I have been quit for a long time but I can say that the smokeless was the hardest to stop. I had been born again for about 3 years and knew it hurt my wittness to be using tobacco. I gave it over to the Lord and He set me free. Hang in there and work it in small bites. I will be praying for you and your family that they will stand with you and support you as well. God bless you and yours.......Dusty

Still goin strong. No slip ups nor will I allow there to be one. That first day was so brutal the rest seems kind of easy compared to those first 12 hours. If I can make it past those first twelve hours I can go the rest of my life with no tobacco..

Thanks all for the extra motivation.

God Bless,

Todd

You are doing great. I've have traveled the same road you are going down. I started using snuff when I was about 12 or 13 and stopped when I was 37. I stopped cold turkey, after I made up my mind. I can only talk from my experience. For me it was not only a struggle the first few hours, days, weeks or months. It was a struggle for many month's. I did "slip" from time to time, please do not ever give up. It took all the determination, praying and a 12 year old daughter (and a nagging/loving wife) pestering (reminding me) every day to make it through. I would suggest you tell those close to you what you are trying to do and have them remind you every day. This may get annoying and you will be on edge at times so be careful. It takes a lot to do what you are doing - it is worth it in the end. Not only do you save $$ you also save your life.

I will be praying for you and the strength that you will need.

Take Care and God Bless
Neal

Hang in there Todd, you can do it.
I have been off the chew for about 6 years now.

It gets a little easier every week.

I remember when I quit I started to drink a lot of coffee. It seemed to fill the void of the nicotine.

I dont know but it did seem to help.
I'm drinking from a saucer 'cause my cup has overflowed

I was able to lay down the dip can this past June after 30 years of use. I quit cold turkey (yes it was rough) and haven't had a chew since. I have wanted one several times, and wouldn't pass it up right now, lol.

Seriously...I decided I couldn't be faithful to God and his desires for me and my life with this habit between us. I prayed and asked God to take the desire away from me, and here we are a few days short of 7 months.

I have gained a little weight but nothing drastic and now have begin to take that problem away as well. I couldn't do any of it with the Lord though, so all praise goes to him.
