my dear wife
« on: May 10, 2012, 06:23:00 PM »
I have been absent from the site for a while now, trying to get a few things tidied up before our little one arrives and dealing with a sick and pregnant wife.

I don't ask for prayer often, and admitedly, I don't pray myself with any great regularity outside church and supper blessings.  we all face decisions in life where no earthly counsel will suffice.  I need some help!

I have not gone to work thinking "I do not want to go to work" for the last 12 years.  I have had 3 bosses in that time doing three distinctly different jobs and never have I struggled to face a day at the "office".  My wife on the other hand is facing quite the opposite problem.  She feels bullied and belittled at work every single day.  She attempted to find a new job in the past but was either unable to find a suitable replacement job, or timing was just inconvienent.  Right now she is 5 months pregnant, even if she wanted to find a new job, no one would hire her.

My wife is calling me at lunch crying, coming home at night feeling defeated and worthless and praying for strength every morning before leaving for work.  I want her to see a doctor about medical leave but she is worried about saving enough money for the baby.  I need the hand of our father to rest upon her shoulder and assure her that we will make it through alright, that she does not have to sacrifice so much.

I would rather sell everything I own rather than watch my wife come home crying every night because she thinks she has to soldier on lest we not make the mortgage payment.  Pray for our Lord to impart courage on my dear wife, and keep your eyes open, a few bows may be liberated from the rack in the name of property taxes.
But be sure you live out the message and do not merely listen to it and so deceive yourself - James 1:22

Wow...you humble me,Murray.

That is the devotion our Lord asks from us in all things and you show it in spades in your marriage and for your wife.

I've been in those shoes where she is and it's not fun.  If she won't take medical leave, has she considered some "counsel" to learn to put a few more "arrows in her quiver" to learn new ways to disarm the miscreants without firing a shot?

She might find it well worth the investigation to see what might be about in your area by way of personal counseling.  Emotions are in a tornado during pregnancy, but with this economy, many folks are just at wits end and it makes them mean and they'll pick on anyone they can to just ease their own demons!

Not preaching, but I do believe that we often overlook counseling thinking it is for nut jobs and I, for one, consider it nothing but an oil change and lube job in the perventative maintenance of life! There are some real knotheads out there so very good at their life's work of making other's miserable.

Regardless, prayers for you both to find discernment, power, peace and direction in this turmoil of times!

I know it is sometimes easier said than done but praying for strength from the Lord will help. Putting  faith in Jesus will get us through a lot.

Romans 12: 14-21

Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.  Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.  Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.

Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.  On the contrary:

“If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”

21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Proverbs 12:27
The lazy do not roast any game,
but the diligent feed on the riches of the hunt.

Prayers for your wife. Relief will come soon. Joy will come soon. Look forward. Take comfort that a life will come into the world in the worst of circumstance and bring joy to her and you.

Prayers for your wife and for you as well.  Work is work. It is not who you are or a measure of your worth.  When we respect and enjoy the people we with which we work, work is much more enjoyable. Unfortunately, it is not always so.  Please let her know we are pulling for her and to believe in herself!

V.I.
I feel for you, one thing worse than going thur pain yourself is to standby while a family member suffers. I recently was in Church and heard the priest say "Worry is an insult to God... cuz you need to TRUST the LORD, and you are fooling yourself it you think you have the power to do much about it" You and your wife have it goin on, and that is far more valuable than any job.
