My Brother is with me
« on: November 07, 2012, 02:01:00 PM »
I have not been able to bring myself to shoot my bows since returning to Guam, just cannot get up the energy.

Kimber was kind enough to offer me one of Don's bows after he passed. I was reluctent but chose his Schafer Silvertip Take down longbow. I have not really wanted to shoot it because I just could not bring myself to string her up.

Today I did and took her outside to shoot. Now I shoot recurve's and Don loved his longbows, normally I do not shoot them well. When I gripped it in my hand a feeling of calm came over me like I have not had in quite some time. I shot for over an hour and it was hard to put her down. I was not seeing clearly due to tears flowing for the first few arrows, but he must have been guiding me because I shot it like I have never shot a longbow since I was a kid. I switched to recurves many years ago because I just could not control my shot well enough with a longbow.

I know that God was with me as well as my Bubba today. Thank you Bro. I will hunt with her.

Praise God!!! Love His care and comfort

That's some special news right there... Nothing like the love that binds...

May Kimber find something of similar solace soon.

Tears are good for us, Danny.  Without them, we're just lumps of clay.

There seems to be a connection between the bow and arrow and God. And through God a connection with your brother even though he is not physically with you anymore.

If you wouldn't mind I would like to send you a little something, if you could let me know how to get it to you.

Danny, I am so glad you felt him there with you- I feel him so close at times it feels like I could reach out and touch him.  Then the harsh reality slaps me in the face that he isn't here-
