Ed,
Your words are Truth: "...-we have Christ to intercede in those moments."
We all are inadequate, imperfectly human.
Christ alone can...
...touch her heart
...relieve her pain
...give her Hope
...keep her sane
...accept her blame, and
...give her Peace that passes all understanding, but the greatest of these He gives is Love.
May our Father's Holy Spirit love her with the love she needs, calm her grief with His still small voice, and open her eyes with His Wisdom and Truth, so that she is wholy His and still yours to love. God is that Love. Christ is that Life. There is nothing else.
Ed,
Asher doesn't want you to mourn for him. As you so proudly described your son, "...he was too gloriously happy for that." He was happy because he was yours and he was so loved by his Dad and Mom, but he also knew he was soon to be His. Because Asher didn't reach the age of accountability, his spirit lives in a new and perfect body, free from pain and death, forever with Christ. He is still Gloriously Happy with his Heavenly Father and Saviour, but sad for you and his Mom in your suffering. He has tears for you both, still, but they are wiped away by God, for they all know you both will one day join them in the Glory of Heaven - for Christ keeps those, with whom He has been entrusted - you and your wife. Faith cannot be lost. Faith is the Substance of things Hoped for, the evidence of things not yet seen. Asher now sees and lives in that evidence not seen by man. He sees clearly now (not through muddy reflections), but through God's Perfect Truth.
This world is NOT fair! Both of my children have suffered it. And it pains us all to see you both suffer, like Job, in this dreadful world of sin. But I encourage you to choose to be like Job! When in his pain and losses, he kept on praising God, without blame. Continue seeking His face, looking to His Living Word, Who saves us. Count it all joy, as James said, when you have all these trials and tests. These trials are certainly painful, and not deserved, BUT, by Christ, "...we are healed by His stripes." We are blessed when we suffer like He suffered- when we emulate Him, so He is glorified.
You, Ed, are emulating Christ, and you Sir are a blessing to me. You lift me up to see the man of God you are, using all his strength to simply STAND!...like Christ stood, when He suffered for you and I on that old wretched cross. I stand with you, brother, and lift you and your wife to our Father in Heaven, who can heal all your hurt and pain.
May God give you rest tonight and strengthen you for your tomorrow. May he give you Joy, for therein is your strength to endure.
God Bless.
