prayer for ministry
« on: March 03, 2015, 10:13:00 PM »
I have been leading men in ministry for almost 10 years now. Jesus has blessed me in this. Now I am facing a situation where a man says what I teach in primitive skills is only for boys, men do not need it.  If men don't then I will teach boys to be real men if that's what Christ would want. I ask you all to pray for this and that I would be sensitive to god's leading.

I would say ignore the man and do what God puts on your heart.
Psalms 118 8-9
8 It is better to take refuge in the Lord
    than to trust in humans.
9 It is better to take refuge in the Lord
    than to trust in princes.

I agree, but we are on the committee that plans events for the men in our church. He is a school principle and thinks he is better.
I know Christ went through the same things. Just hurts when its a peer.
These skills we teach are bathed in scripture and prayer. Alas seems to childish to him.

Praying that God either wakes him up or gets him out of the way!
God's wisdom makes fools of the so called wise of this world.

Offer those trainings OUTSIDE the church itself, thru networking by others who have completed the training...?

Otherwise, speak with an open heart to your church leadership about this dilemma.

Don't let the stones of man stumble you on your path.  My experience, especially from your other post, is that we as teachers get as much from the experience as we give.  YOU and THEY may need this!

Persevere in Christ, with a loving heart.

Prayers that the real men you teach will learn and lead good lives because of your offerings.
Relax,

You'll live longer!

Daniel, if you've been teaching your men's group for 10 years you've been doing something right. I echo Doc's advise to speak with an open heart to your church leadership. Prayers sent for God's Favor for you.

I have gotten a note to the pastor over me and nothing back yet. The Lord let me work via internet for 5 years with a group of men in Germany. What a blessing. I have a spiritual son there.
Thank you for your prayers and advice .

Met with the pastor. A good meeting. I told him I need more input from him. He will. I also said as of April 4 it's been 10 years without a break. I start a 7 week study on the Holy Spirit tonight. When I finish this I am going to take a break for the summer.
BUT, I will do some outreach work with the public then. Using primitive archery as the key. Any input from you all would be great. God has given me a great story to tell using the bow.
Please pray for peace and rest plus renewed strength for me. My nerve disorders are bad right now too. Lots of pain.

Daniel,

Thanks for the update.  Been hoping your pastor will "step up"...may that happen as promised!

No man is an island, nor a nuclear facility. You need to take a break! that which draws others to Him will be blessed.

Prayers for your pain to become more manageable as time goes on and God's perfect Will be for more energy for you!

Our world needs more like you. Savor your summer respite and return refreshed and focused. There is no shame in teaching boys; my scouts taught me far more than I taught them in many ways. A stronger foundation builds a longer lasting home. Thanks for all you do.
