We tried to witness!
« on: July 30, 2016, 06:02:00 AM »
Prayer warriors this has bothered me all night when I got the tragic news of a young man that helped me at work when I turn apartments over for new tenants at a senior apartment complex I work at.
Yesterday my Boss called me around 5:30 p.m. or so and asked "If I heard" from her brother in law or another contractor about his helper Wil?
I said "No" and she began to tell me Wil took off work yesterday to go hang out with some friend and fish or something and celebrate his 24t birthday which was yesterday July 29th.
From what I gather Wil pulled out in front of a vehicle on  a highway and was hit and passed away around 4:00pm or so.
That news just hits me hard inside because on the last few apartments where we all were talking about Salvation and Jesus is our savior He didn't want to hear it. We would say "What If this" was your very last day and in a twinkling of an eye God will come and take you away and he would joke about it as if he really didn't care.
We tried even in a joking matter not to sound like we were trying to offend him like he was the only sinner. I would tell him "Wil" I am a Christian and I know I say and do things that aren't what Christians are to be like BUT I have Jesus in my Heart and Soul and I am of the flesh and the devil will always try to temp us but I repent and ask for forgiveness daily.    . I strive each day to work on my faults and I know I am a work in progress.
These are the kind of talks Aldis a contractor and a good friend I like working with have tried to disciple to Wil.
I don't know why his dad spelled his name Wil but that is how he spells it but anyway Wil kept putting it to the back of his mind and I just feel as if I didn't try hard enough to disciple Wil in the short few years of working around him on the apartment turnovers.
He has a 2 year old boy and he just told us this month his girlfriend is pregnant and now those two little children have lost their earthly Daddy.
Wil's dad and his mother divorced some time ago and it saddens me that they didn't teach Christ to Wil in his short 24 years of life here on earth.
Salvation is a "FREE" gift that God's only begotten son Jesus paid for at the cross and if we repent and ask Him to forgive us and come into our life He will. It's that easy and I just wished Wil would have took us serious when we tried witnessing to him . Several of us did try in our way but I fear maybe I/we weren't firm enough?
This ate me up inside all night but I'm reminded that He knocks at the door and some will open it and some won't. Please each one try to reach one today. God Bless and please pray for Wil's little boy and his girlfriends child once it's born.

You can't force anyone to accept God's gift all you can do is sow the seed which you did. Jesus said some seed fell on the hard path and satan quickly stole the seed. Sadly for Wil his heart was hard.
Prayers for his family for God's comfort and that their hearts are tender for God's Word.
But his bow will remain steady, and his hands will be skillful; because of the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, because of the Shepherd, the Rock of Israel,  (Genesis 49:24 [NETfree])

As BenBow said, you can't force anybody to listen to you or to accept your message. You tried, and that is all you can do for him. You can continue to pray for those he left behind.

Reflecting both on your angst and what you've shared, might I offer another view?

We never know what truly lies in another man's (or woman's) heart...so ...what you shared in the times you tried, may indeed have fallen on rocky ground and not germinated, but then again, at that age, many of us maintained a persona of "tough guy" so perhaps you had him thinking in his quiet thoughts more then you may know...

We spread the seeds as best we can and the nurturing of those seeds falls to the great "I AM" and that ain't be we...

Thanks for your caring and thanks for your sharing...

Keep the Son in your eyes...
The words "Child" and "terminal illness" should never share the same sentence! Those who care-do, others question!

Amen Doc there's always cracks in dry crusty ground. Never give up hope.

I feel Keith's pain, Galen...and his sense of frustration, but today, thinking on his post, I remembered when Christ was approached by the rich man...

He was a "seeker" but when he learned what needed done, he walked away dejected...

IF Christ could accept that not all are won, Keith, how much less can we mortals such as us expect?

Keep the Son in your eyes, Keith and keep witnessing...

Thank you brothers for sharing ... I've been in the same place... but only God knows the outcome. One day we will too ... we will rejoice in the faces we see in heaven when we arrive. The angles will be singing!!!!
