Anyone use the 160 Snuffer in Africa?

Just curious if anyone has used the big 160 snuffers in Africa.  If so, what was your set-up and how'd they work for you?

Not me. I'll be using 150gr Silverflame XL's in June.

I didn't use them but have read of others that did with good results.  I plan on taking some back with me whenever I can arrange it!

I did my first trip. I killed a eland, Blue Wildebeest and a Baboon. I was not impressed with the penetration. My last trip I shot 180 grain GK heads and plan to use them again in August.
I was shooting 74# recurve with 700 grain arrows

I shot 150gr 3 blades with excellent results.
If you can get 'em SHARP, they should be fine.

Dan Quillian and his son D. D. used them on their African trip in the 80's and brought back a pile of trophies.

This is a good question.  I'm still trying to figure out what head to take over in August.  I like snuffers.  What else (Besides silver flames) do you guys suggest.  I'm shooting 60# with 600 grain arrows.

I used a Magnus I on my Kudu and Zephyr Sausquatch on Impala, Red Hartebeest, Zebra, and Nyala.  My Eland I shot with a Doug Campbell damascus broadhead.  The Eland was the only animal that I didnt shoot through or at least have the arrow hanging out the oppisite side of and that is because the arrow went into the offside shoulder.  Paul Brunner recomends using the widest broadhead you can and he has spent more time in Africa than anyone I know.  When I make it back I will be using 160 grain Snuffers and 4 blade Zephyrs.  If an arrow makes it to the far side of the ribcage it has done all of the damage it is going to do.  The trackers I saw at Vissers didn't even look for blood when tracking, they followed the hoofprints so I don't think that an exit hole is as important for them as it is for us.  You are also hunting under controlled conditions as far as knowing the distance to the waterhole and with the concealment that the blinds afford there is no reason not to wait for a perfect shot. For me I will take maximum cut over penetration as long as the broadhead will make it to the far side ribs.  Joseph
