Hi We booked a hunt with Kuvhima Safaris In Limpopo. Seem like good guys. We have never been there before. I told them I would be bow hunting, they said no problem. They suggested we come in Late April/ May.
My question is do you think this is a good time of the season to go?

Jeff, I hunted in the Limpopo province in late April last year and it was ideal.  But as I understand it, that isn't always the case that time of year.  Last year's winter was abnormally dry and therefore the animals were heavily congregated at the water holes.  Most folks would suggest that May would be better than April.

I went at the end of may and that was the first hunt of the year for our outfitter.  I would go a bit later next time June July.  If you can stand the heat it sounds like Sept., October is the best if you are water hole hunting.

I have been a number of times (April, July, August, September and October).  I would encourage you going from July onwards.  It will be much more dry and the animals will really be hitting the water.  This year is a bit dry already in Southern Africa with prospects of a drought coming on but I would still go later than April/May if I had the choice.  Kuvhima is a nice operation...just trophy fees can be a bit high sometimes but that's just my .02.

Not really a bad time to hunt the Limpopo, but September/October is near the end of the dry season, and normally waterholes are fantastic. Foliage is still down at that time, and up to early October high temps are usually in the mid 70`s, with night time lows around 50-55 degree`s.

If you take me with you, I can make it rain there in September. lol
