Fighting nock points while tuning your bow. UPDATE
« on: December 27, 2007, 03:16:00 PM »
When tuning my bows seems I'm always fighting my nock points. Whether they are tied on or brass nocks. I spend more time goofing around with nock pliers, and tying to adjust tie on ones, than its worth. But it must be done for good arrow flight. So in by quest for an easier way I thought

Why not a twisty tie for a temporary nock point, then install a permanent one in the correct place! And dang if it doesn’t work temporary, and so easy to adjust!!!

The plastic coated twisty ties don't work well, use the paper coated twisty ties!

   Sweet if I do say so!

THANK YOU!!!!!   Being a new guy and learning how to tune my bow I spent more time adjusting knocks than I care to admit.  Tricks of the trade, love'em  Thanks Joe

Great idea Brent!  I do kinda the same thing with a little strip of masking tape.  It lasts quite awhile without ever moving.  In fact I've had some bows I bought and resold without ever getting around to putting on a permanent nocking point.

the best way i have found is to use masking tape.  two wraps around is all it takes.  it will last for weeks if it does not get wet.  if it does, simply replace it.  itrimmine to a half inch in width and wrap away. smooth and secure.

I just tie on some B-50, then I can screw it up or down the thread as needed. Once I find the spot, I put a dab of glue on it. It wears out eventually, but it's easy and cheap to replace. You can do the same with dental floss (waxed).

30coupe I agree and have done the same. I use both type's tied on and brass nocks. But for ease of finding the sweet spot where that nock belongs. This is the fastest adjusting way I have found. Not to mention easy adjusting!

That is one of the all time simplest, best ideas I have ever heard. You can bet I will be using that one. .....One question,..How do you keep your Wonder Bread from going stale while you tune your bow?

I do the same as Whip--little strip of masking tape, real easy to move until you find the best spot....Dave
