I'm looking for recommendations on a belt sander I am looking for a 6” x 48” so far the best deal I have found is the Rikon
http://woodcraft.com/family.aspx?familyid=5385
I know that Rikon makes one of the best band saws but I am not sure about their belt sanders.

Grizzly 6X48 - 9 in disc combo. Been using mine for years, and I mean USING it. Excellent customer service too.
Grizzly G1014Z
That's a good deal on that Rikon though, if it's a good machine. Ask Rainman what he knows about it. He's a Woodcraft guy. (Dan Raney) Flip a coin!

I have a Rikon bandsaw and really like it, but don't know much about their sander. I do like the idea of the disk being set below the surface of the belt to accomodate larger pieces. Seems like a smart bit of engineering right there!

Tom Leemans, Do you grind tapered lams w/ that Grizzly? If so do you mind explaining how you go about it. Thanks and sorry to get off topic.
