Four Fletch Questions...

I recently got a 4" shield cut chopper. I use a Jo-Jan fletch tool, and fletch right helical. The arrows of choice are Gold Tips Hunter XT. I am shooting them out of a 55# @ 28" PSE Coyote.

Questions:
1. What are good broadheads to use with a four fletch configuration? My arrows are  getting a lot of twist. I am shooting darts with my field tips, but when I throw a Montec G5 three blade on there, they go to hell.

2. Shooting carbons... Good idea or bad idea with four-fletch? They seem to be pretty good.

3. Since I am getting two feathers out of 1 full length, should I fletch an arrow only with the feathers chopped out of the 'front of the full length'? And one arrow the same with the 'back of the full length' feathers?

Any Tuning advice would be awesome. Thanks guys!

1. Any broadhead!
2. Any shaft material is great for 4 fletch.
3. don't think it matters but you can do what you want.

You will find explanations of why and how to do it there. Many have been using this 4 fletch orientation for lots of years with great results.

The first thing I'd suggest is bareshaft tuning your bow. If you're having problems getting broadheads to impact with field points, you likely have a tuning problem somewhere.

I've been doing it for several years, as have a lot of others. Yes, they work just fine.

You didn't say which shaft you are using. 35/55, 55/75? Sounds like your arrows are to stiff for the broadhead.

Are the Montecs screwing in straight?  Do they spin absolutely straight?  Misalignment is easier to see if the arrow is spun kinda slow.  Other than that, Jason pretty much covers it.

I've been using the 60/120 (formr Kelly's old site)with 4" in helical for quite a while now and really like it. I relaly like for kids arrows becaause they don't have to worry about whcihj way to knock the arrows.

If I can add another question.....which configuration looks like an x, and which looks like a +? I have been seriously considering four-fletching, and am leaning towards the x variety....sorry, didnt want to hijack a post or anything.

This subject is wide open for debate, and has been debated heavily for some time already...But at the risk of leaving myself wide open for assault.... may i suggest rotating all your broadheads exactly the same....I know there are may out there that disagree with it making a difference.....But i have found that the lighter the arrow is, the more difference it makes. And some broadheads plane more than others....I've used Monte's myself and rotation did make a difference on consistency.....

HEY! you are putting wings on the front of that arrow...of course its going to make a difference....
