skybow "trophy longbow"

Can anyone fill me in on the history of the "trophy" longbow designed by Earl Hoyt Jr.?  I thought I used to know, but seem to have forgotten. Am I correct that Hoyt was the original manufacturer, sold to Skybow (maybe), who produced the "trophy" longbow but then sold to Mathews (maybe)?  I know it was designed by Earl Hoyt, Jr.  Any help "jogging my memory" (it's not what it used to be) would be much appreciated.

Earl Hoyt started Sky Archery in his later years.
Hoyt Archery had been sold previously and was no longer his company.

Earl made the Trophy and another longbow, plus the takedown hunter models...in addition to the Sky Takedown target models.  I guess Matthews picked up the bows after Earl's passing.

I have one of his Trophy longbows.  It's a well-designed, good shooting bow.

Easton Aluminum purchased Hoyt Archery in 1983
(Hoyt USA)...in 1989, compound bow production moved to Salt Lake City, and Sky Archery was formed by Mr.Hoyt to produce the Gold Medalist recurves for Hoyt;  they also sold their own line of traditional bows.  I knew some guys when I was in St Louis in the early '90's that shot Trophy Longbows, so they were apparently available from near the beginning.  They also made the Eagle recurve and a hybrid longbow that was initially called Ambush, but changed to Rogue...I have one of the Rogue's and it's my go-to...can't remember what the takedown was called....
If you go to ther Sky Archery website, it appears that MAYBE the Trophy Longbow is available through Mathews dealers.  The other models carry the Mathews name and new nomenclature.

The Rogue was available in takedown and is still a great longbow when you can find them.

George, I also have one of these Earl Hoyt/Sky Archery 69" 70# RH Trophy longbow that I got new long ago. And is a very good looking hard hitten bow. I am thinking about putting it up for sale,to get a 50-55# bow. do you know what would be a good price to ask for this bow? thanks

I had/have 2 of them.  They are at my dads because he liked them more than I did.  Both are 66" one is 65# and one is 60#.  For me they seemed to draw really stiff but I think it is just that style bow.  I still shoot them every now and again and still in my mind a quality bow!!

i had a trophy longbow, and it was a good bow, just too long (69") for my tastes. it always felt like the bottom limb was going to hit the treestand on a shot. hard to concentrate on hitting a deer if you are worrying about that.
