My wife and I filmed a bunch of the larger traditional archery tournaments in years past with her camcorder which used VHSC tapes.
We received a VHS-DVD recorder for Christmas and I decided to transfer the tapes to DVD. Only about one in ten of the tapes will play all the way through with out stopping the VCR. Most will only run about 30 seconds, stop, hit play and it might run a minute or so but will stop the VCR again and again and again. I have tried two dfferent VCRs with the same results.
Needless to say transferring these tapes is impossible.
I have tried rewinding them on slow speed to even the tension out on the tape but it didn't help.
I have thought about splicing these 30 minute tapes into a regular VCR tape to eliminate the adapter that they must be put in to play. This may be something that is over my head.
Our original camcorder is long gone so I have thought about buying one off fleabay to try to play the tapes with dubbing cables.
Any suggestions? We have some priceless granddaughter tapes as well that I would hate to loose.
