28" draw, what length Kanati LB?
« on: January 06, 2008, 06:34:00 PM »
OK, I draw close to 28". I am looking real hard at one of Jason Kendall's Kanati LB's, but have never shot one. According to his website, I am right on the breaking line between a 56" or a 58" bow.

For those of you that have shot them or own one, what length would you recommend? My draw length varies depending on handle design (selfbow vs recurve grip), so I would say 28" would be my max draw.

Any help/advice you can offer would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Brian

I draw a true 28". I had his 58" Kabekona and it felt great. I think he makes an extemely nice bow, very comfortable to shoot. Best of luck to you.

I draw 29+ and I'm VERY happy with my 60" bow.  If you are just drawing 28 or slightly under, I'm certain a 58 incher will work and probably a 56.  Like others have said.  Give Jason a call.  He's a first class guy and will answer any questions you have.

Thanks guys. I asked Jason and he said I could go with either length. I was just wondering what you all thought. I have no doubts the 58" would be great, but I am really wanting to try the 56" for a more compact set up. Never shot a 56" bow though.

I usually shoot 62" long bows but want to go shorted. How much shorter is the question.

At 28" you would be fine with a 56" Kanati. I ordered a 58" because my oldest son draws 29" and knew he would want to shoot it. The added 2" isn't really all that noticeable. My cousin has an older 56" JK bow and the two inch difference isn't all that noticeable. If you want to be on the safe side, do what I did and get a 58". I guarantee you will not be sorry no matter which bow you select. Jason does awesome work and is a great guy to deal with.

If it were me making the decision, I'd go with the 58" versus the 56" just based on comfort and possible stacking.

Two Arrows,

Stacking would not be a problem at 28" with either length. I have shot both and they draw smoothly all the way to 28". I can't say beyond that because I max out at 28". I don't know how Jason does it, but I am sure glad he does!

On most bows I'd have to agree with you, but not these. Obviously, I'd still go with the 58" though. I think it is just about the optimum length for a bow.

I would have to say I draw 28" and I shot a 56" with no problem at all. I would have to buy a 56" because I like a bow as short as possible in case I find myself in a ground blind. You can't go wrong either way with one of Jason's bows.

Hmmmm,

Just what I thought. Too many choices LOL

Thanks for all the input. I am looking for a bow to be used out of a pop up blind, mainly. That is why I am so intrigued witht the 56". If I am not careful with my 62" LB, I hit the upper limb on the roof of my blind.

Can't say with Jason's bow, but I do have a 28" draw and shoot a 56" Vortex which is not all that different in design. I shoot my bow fine. I do prefer 58" for a little edge in shooting comfort but I like the compactness of the smaller bow. For me, the two inches did make a difference in the blind.
