Thanks to the trandgang forum!

I ended my 2007/2008 archery season today.  I switched to traditional around mid-November and have been having a blast.  I'm shooting a 50# PSR with cedar arrows and it is very rewarding....I've also ditched all of my high-dollar carbon suits and camo outfits!

My season ended on an awesome note today.  After 3.5 hours of staying with 2 does, i find myself about 35 yards from these 2 deer while they are bedded down.  I followed them, got in front of them, got lucky here and there and had an absolute blast.  On the ground, NO CAMO....just played the wind and moved slow and quiet.

I never got a shot on these girls.  they got up, moved around and bedded back down near me several time throught the morning.  they eventually got my wind and moved on.

i've killed my fair share of whitetails but this hunt experience was definitely tops.  talk about a teaser for next season!

Just want to thank all of the people on this forum that continue to give encouragement, techniques and tactics for hunting with trad archery!

You hit the mail on the head. I haven't killed a deer in many years, but since I went back to the stick and hunting on the ground, I have never had so much fun NOT getting a deer.
Enjoy the game.

rappstar, you have done very well.  It's amazing how much of a thrill one can get by just being among them without the aid of "stuff."   Good job my friend.

Lot of fun there and that's what it should be about. The kills will come as you learn and improve on your stalking and hunting skills. You get to rely on yourself and there is no greater reward.

Welcome home my friend!....I hunted the whole season this year with home made trad equipment without harvesting a critter. it was some of the most enjoyable hunting i've had in years.....I even came to full draw on several elk this year, only to let down saying "Gotcha!"....
I knew that critter would have been freezer meat using my high tech gear...What a great experience this traditional style hunting is...I'm still looking for my first trad harvest....But i'm in no hurry....it'll come when it comes.....Kirk
