Shrew Design Question??? Ron??
« on: January 11, 2008, 10:22:00 AM »
I've heard a lot of good things about Shrew bows but have yet to shoot one.  One concern I've had is my short draw length (27") and the forward handle design.  It seems like the forward handle design would effectively shorten my draw length even more.  That is less action on the limbs with them being set back.  Does the design of the bow/limbs take this into account? Is this even a concern?

Mark

I will let you try my shrew here in a couple of weeks.  Unless it shows up sooner   :goldtooth:

The bow I had that one day on the range was real similar, and it seemed to shoot fine for you, although that was only a couple of arrows.

BTW- did you shoot last night at the first indoor league?

I missed it, it was our my wife and I's anniversary.

Cool, I'd like to give it a try.  Didn't make the indoor league but hope to shoot at the range Sunday.  I like your new avatar.

kadbow,

The Shrew bows are shorter than average, 52"-60" nock to nock. With bows this short a forward handle is conducive to a smooth pulling bow. Another advantage of a forward handle is that it lessens the possibility of torque by making it harder to torque the bow with the hand forward of the limbs.

Your 27" draw is not so short as you may think, in fact 27" is what I'd call an average draw length. I know there are many that draw 28, 29, 30 and even longer, but with all the people I've dealt with in the last 28 years I've been in business there are just as many with shorter draw lenghts, 24, 25 and 26"

The key is to have a bow built for YOUR draw in the length of bow you want.

Thanks Ron.  It looks like I may get to shoot one of your bows in a few weeks when over&under gets his.
