Never complain again
« on: August 03, 2006, 08:04:00 PM »
Hi folks,
It's been a while since I've had the chance to visit this site. Glad to be back on line. Now to the point. I recently saw an archery show on one of the hunting channles I get on TV. The show focused on the fact that Bow hunting is banned in Germany. The only hunting allowed is with a state permit that requires one full year of study and several thousand dollars. Then you must lease a hunting land that can cost any where from 25,000 - 100,000 dollars. I almost lost my bottom jaw on that one. There are many archery clubs in Germany, and most seem to be into traditional shooting. Perhaps this has been discussed here before. I am still relatively new to this site. (not even a year yet). Any way. I see now how great I have it here in the US. I'll never complain again about the price of a permit. I'll just keep on thanking the Lord  for the great hunting spot I have. It is free to me and any one who wants to be there. God bless America.
I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.

North America is very unique in the opportunities it allows us to hunt. We need to remain viligent and protect what we have, if we ever take it for granted it could easily become lost to us.

I know guns are not archery; but the UN is after our 2d Amendment. They are anti-gun/hunting so, we need to "stick" it to them by standing with ALL-ETHICAL hunters and not allow the U.S. to go the way of our fellow archers in Europe.

Correct!

Not necessary but then you have to be NICE to the fellow who owns it. In any case your hunting depends on HIS will - and you'll mostly pay for it - at least the venison ...

I feel like I am in a "golden cage" over here! Almost everthing what I am interested in is:
a) prohibited
b) restricted to such an extend thats close to a)
c) or will need an unreal amount of "paperwork"
d) any other reason
... a never ending story ...

You surely can feel blessed for having enough space/room/country to LIVE in - they way you like it - at least a bit.

In general: It can always be a BIG eye-opener if you take a look over the border. There can also be fields to learn from or just to think about - or other subjects - like the topic - to appreciate what one might has achived/preserved ...
But I will not start talking about politics/believes here. To difficult to discuss even in ones own language - just a hint ...

Billy, Right on. I don't even hunt with guns anymore, but I believe every "FREE MAN" should, and has a duty, to possess the means to stay that way.

The UN failed in their latest attempt to take away our and other countries citizens firearms. That could change if the democrats regain control of our government though. Every vote counts this fall folks.

I tend away from D's BUT; R's that think trees and critters have RIGHTS: and that I shouldn't be trusted to best choose my self defense or the management of resources are dangerous too!!
The point is, our Rights are enumerated in; NOT given by the Constitution.
 We are lucky to have our Founding Documents and we should defend them. At the ballot box or on a field of battle. WE have what the rest of the world's thinking people are desirous of, and what William Wallace and others died for;
FREEDOM.
With help and knowledge from our Friends, that have already lost most of theirs; we will better be able to see how to avoid what they could not.
Sorry folks, I tend to get worked up over politicians who set rules for US then live as if the rules don't apply to them. No matter what country they do it in.

Thanks for the reply Falk. I see  you live over there, so you would know. If you ever find your way to the US in the Autumn, I would be glad to take you out  hunting for the North American White tailed Deer.  Also, thanks for staying on topic.

Jerry, thanks alot - I appreciate your offer and would certainly like to go after - whatever - even groundhogs and alike would be a real thrill - compared to what I have available at home (e.g. NOTHING)!
Cheers, Falk

Jerry and Falk ; I'm sorry if you think I veered off topic. It is to me a "hunting thing".
I know you were talking EU geography and Bow Hunting, and what effects them , eventually effects us. Or could.
Yes, I opened the topic a bit wider but, still think it's pertinent details. The big picture here is that 'they' are banning together to stop ALL hunting worldwide!
I think what Falk and his fellow archers deal with; is on the march westward.
Hope that ties us back on the same page. Billy

Hey Brother Jerry, glad to see you online again. Yes we are so fortunate to have what we do compared to others around the world. Socialism and the errosion of our 2nd Amendment right to bear arms will put us in the same boat soon.

If I recall it was Tom Nelson that was on that show; and he talked with a guy in Germany that said that 85% of the shooters there are into traditional bows- because 'they are more fun'.
On the show they said that Sweden was open to bowhunting: which it is not. It was outlawed there when harpooning whales was outlawed.
Idaho is now talking about a 12% increase in fees.. I think the high cost discourages lower income people from hunting- and newcomers to hunting too.
I am really glad we don't have to jump through the hoops that they do in Germany and other countries to hunt- like proficiency tests-
question where there are proficiency tests; do you have to shoot the same bow you test with? If you test with a traditional bow: is it enough to hunt with any traditional bow -- or just the one you tested with??
THE VOICES HAVEN'T BOTHERED ME SINCE I STARTED POKING THEM WITH A Q-TIP.
