I don't have the full version. All I know right now is the commission has approved a ban and next Tuesday morning at 8, there's suppose to be a hearing or something. It will go to Austin from there if we can't talk them out of it. The ban will restrict anyone from shooting bows or firearms on the rivers and streams in Tom Green County.
Depending on the wording we may still be able to bowfish from the shore, but I don't want to take any chances. Matter of fact, I don't like the idea of the word "ban" and "hunt" or "fish" in the same sentence period. Anyway, this is a threat to bowfishing as well as duck hunting and a lot of the other hunting we do on the city owned property and the state park.
Here's a link that TexMex looked up. Please contact them and let them know we don't need the ban.
http://www.co.tom-green.tx.us/county/cocourt.html I'll know more in the next few days.
Incidentally, depending on drought level, this will practically wipe out any bowfishing on Twin Buttes Reservoir. Even put a dent in our annual bunny hunt.
I hate going off half cocked, but this is the best I've got for now.
