Green Peace hunting friendly?
« on: March 25, 2008, 03:51:00 PM »
Is Green Peace a hunting friendly eco group?  If they aren't why and then who is?

I want to know so that I can show financial support for the wild spaces that we all love to play in, but I want to be sure that I am not supporting the wrong group.

  Any suggestions?

Thanks
Allan

If you want to support an organization that helps the habitat, as opposed to fighting pollution or smog or making tuna fishing safe for dolphins, I would suggest you help the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. They work to help and improve habitat all across the nation that supports not only elk but a wide range of other species.

It's too bad that our oceans are not managed as well as our game herds.  The world fisheries are in tough shape and I don't anyone that likes smog and pollution.  Green Peace is opposed to whaling, I am too, but I don't think they look at hunting in a good light.  It simply is not their fight.  There are eco groups that are not opposed hunting, and even go so far as to declare just that.  We are conditioned to hate the Sierra Club, but the active Sierra Club members I know hunt with recurves and longbows.  There are a number of others.

The Nature Conservancy supports hunting as a management tool on many of their properties.

Ducks unlimited, quail unlimited, nwtf, national wildlife federation.  These all work to put habitat back into the landscape.
