hickory limbs?

Hi, gang!
i hada little question :
do hickory limbs on a modern reflex-deflex longbow perform as well as other limb woods?
i saw on the Great Northern website that they offer their "fireball" model with different limb woods, osage, red elm, bamboo, and hickory...
it seems to me that hickory isn't a wood currently used in bowmaking so i would like to have more infos on it....
thanks in advance
Fred

Hickory is an outstanding core wood for limbs. Not a lot of bowyers use it but it is excellent limb wood.

I am another one that likes hickory. I haven't made a bow in several years but the next one will be soon and have hickory limbs.

Yes Hickory makes excelent limb material. Iam currently using Shag Bark Hickory on most of My
Laminations for My Hunting 60" Recurve Bows. I also use it on My BBH 64" Long Bows. I cut down My own trees and dry the wood and make all My own wood laminations both Parrallel and Tapers....ONE SHOT...
