hogs
« on: May 04, 2007, 01:25:00 PM »
Here's my first hog ever with a bow.  It was in february at a buddy's bachelor party.  Now that is good clean fun!  Albany, TX at the Vinson Ranch, 58" 58# Black Widow PSAX, 575gr Beman MFX Classics with STOS Broadheads.  Good times!

Here are my two buddies who took me to there secret hog spot.  One of them shot the coyote while we were sneaking through the thick stuff.  It was asleep and didn't wake up and get out of there fast enough.  I like this pic because we get along famously even though they shoot training wheels.

Here's the body count for Saturday on the Ranch.  Not bad for 10 bowhunters.  I was unfortunately(for them) the only trad bowhunter.  Zeek, my puppy, thought he was literally in hog heaven...as did I.

Same ranch 2 weeks ago after I filmed a turkey hunt for Texas Trophy Hunters and got an evening to hunt myself.  Same equipment.  Snuck up on her in an open wheat field.  Luckily the wheat was tall enough I could close the gap and get a good shot.  Complete pass through...love those skinny and heavy Bemans.

Seems like a pretty good start to 2007!

Nice Justin!  That is quite a "stringer" of pigs there.  Must be awful thick with-em.  Fun-Fun.

Yes, sir!  I've got your winter get-away hunt all planned out for you in a few years.  This ranch is ridiculously thick with game.  You'll be ruined!!  Plus there's plenty of fun to be had for Miranda and the kiddos.

Nice hogs there Justin. I see you are from Dallas also. Maybe we can meet up sometime.

thanks, guys!  That ranch has more turkey, deer, and hogs than I've seen anywhere else.  We didn't even put a dent in the population!  I think the 13,000 acre ranch has 16 miles of river bottom plus several winter wheat fields.  Plenty of cover, food, and water.  It truly is a special place!
