Which arrows w/ 45# recurve?
« on: January 20, 2008, 10:26:00 AM »
I have ordered a set of 45#@28" limbs for my Cheyenne recurve. I have a set of 56# that I will shoot and hunt with. But I thought for some tournament archery and for everyday shooting I would take it easy and shoot the 45# for working on form. I have never shot this low of weight limbs before. Do you think the centercut Morrison would do well with 60# spined POC? How about aluminum and carbons?  Thanks!  David

I am shooting a Cheyenne with foam core limbs at 46#. My draw is 26.5", the arrows are 27". I use a 2013 with heads of 125-175, or a 2016. Heavy ash shafts (600 grains total weight) in the high 40's spine shoot well, just got in some spined 50-55 that I think will do better. Sitkas at 58# spine and 450 grains total weight do very well. The bow is not picky!

Snag,

I shoot a 45# 60” Black Widow recurve. My draw is 29” and I use Carbon Express, Heritage 250 arrow cut to 30.5”. Total arrow weight is 580 grains.

This arrow setup works well for the bow.

My wife shoots 45# @ 26". Her bow really likes the Axis/Bemans in 500 spine and 27" long. I make them with a 100 grain adapter and she shoots 100 grain field points or 100 grain four blade Phantoms.

Killy is right..... Morrison Cheyenne is very spine tolerant. I can shoot several versions of CE Heritage 150's and 250's out of mine. I have other long bows that are not center shot and are VERY picky of spine, brace, etc, etc.

Good to know I have lots of options. I kind of thought that would be the case with the center-cut riser. I shoot POC all the way up to 80#-84# spine with the 56#.

I have a 48# bear at 27" and I shoot 60-65 POC and they fly great.
