stability? What is this
« on: January 20, 2008, 07:45:00 PM »
I have read that the longer the bow the more stable the shorter the quicker. I understand what speed is on a bow but what exactly is bow stability and how does it relate to my shooting?
Combo Hunter 46@28

I came from nothing and I brought it with me.

There are a bunch of factors in stability. Basically it has to do with how sensative the bow is to poor form. Hand torque, string pluck, bow arm waving, etc. If your bow is long, has more mass, and has thick narrow limbs it will be more stable. Other things can help make a bow stable, like forward handle and daigonal stiffness of limb materials (like carbon or cross weave fiberglass) and even arrow weight. Don't know about your shooting, but mine can use all the help it can get, like a stable bow.
