Bernie, one of the most valuable book I have ever read on knifemaking is " How to make knives " by Richard W. Barnes and Robert Loveless.
Once you start reading the very simple step by step process of how to make a knife with machinery and also by hand grinding with files, you'll find yourself be propelled in another world. I give one of these book to the students that go through my knife classes and they all say the same thing " That's such a down to earth book and easy to follow ".
But since you've posted the book tread, I think I'll give one of these valuable pieces of knowledge away here.
