Agricultural steels for knives?
« on: February 09, 2008, 10:03:00 PM »
I've looked around a bit and found some info steels used in different Ag equipment ie. old hay rakes 1095 steel.

Does anyone have experience Harrow teeth, cultivator shovels etc?  I am curious because I live in an agricultural area with lots of old machinery lying around.

Also what about belt driven crosscut saw blades......L6?

thanx in advance!

Scott

In my opinion, some of the best knife steels start out as farm equipment, just as you mentioned. The parts that cut other materials, or are used for springs.
