Blade billet material

I see material for blades, both carbon and damascus that you can buy by the bar from place such as Jantz and others. Can you just cut your shape, grind edges and profiles and then heat treat? Kind of like you would do with a saw blade or something?

Yes, but you'll have to etch the damascus when you are done grinding.  They will probably send you instructions on etching when you order some, if you ask.

Skull, thats how I make mine.  I use carbon steel, not damascus.  Try it man!
