Para-cord Handles
« on: April 21, 2008, 09:59:00 AM »
I know everyone likes to see nice grips in wood, antler, etc...but there are some real advantages to lowly para-cord wraps.

I think they have the best griping surface on a wet greasy knife in the field.  You can use bright colors to keep track of where you laid your knife down. They are very easy and fast to put on.  I did this one in less than 10 minutes this morning.  Speed in application for a fresh handle is a good thing in that their one down fall is they do get smelly if not washed well after field dressing game  :)

This one will be pickin' bears apart this June...tippit

I can see it from here!!
Cool. And the color options are limitless!
When the last deer disappears into the morning mist,
When the last elk vanishes from the hills,
When the last buffalo falls on the plains,
I will hunt mice for I am a hunter and I must have my freedom.

It is also a great way to always have enough cordage in emergency situations. I wrapped every knife I carried while in the Army.

I too like cord wrapped handles.  In some ways it says "I am a user" better than anything else.  Looks great.
