My First Knife- A work in progress
« on: May 03, 2008, 11:26:00 PM »
Nothing like some of the art I've seen grace this forum, but Its still a work in progress... Tools used thus far a chop saw to get the pieces for glue up... acouple clamps... a drill with 1/4" bit, a dremel with cut off wheel to cut the blade to fit the silver spacer to the blade and cut off a lil extra tang.. all shaping done by hand file and rasp....

Helle blade, bocote with a couple rings of shedua...

Simple and simply done, not finished, but getting there...

Just trying to work down the file marks and a lil tweaking to get the handle aligned and symmetrical... also getting it the "RIGHT" size... think I may want to scale it down, but then again, for a working knife for the bloody job it to do, thinking a lil more heft may work better... We'll see how it goes...

Greate start. To me your woodwork is very nicely done. looks like you have done it before. Good job so far on your first one. Keep it up the sky is the limit.
