Never hunted the george river area but if it's like most places, you're probably too late for 2008.

Some friends and I hunted with LUO [I beleive it's called Twin River now] on the George River in 99. It was a tough hunt with few caribou but got worse when the outfitter flew a rich client into camp. We only had two camp helpers and two boats and the rich guy got one each for himself. That left twelve bow hunters with one boat and one helper for a few days until they could fly another helper in and a plane and pilot for the rich guide to use so we could have the boat back.

Can't say I could recommend using that outfitter.

Leaf River Outfitters is owned by a buddy of mine, Kevin Mattice. Kevin has been outfitting first class for many years. He will call and cancell his hunters if caribou not in area. Which has only happened once as far as I can recollect but everbody else just lets em come and says oh well! Hunts arn't cheap but you get what you pay for. Arctic Adventures would be another for you to compare with Leaf River.

Leaf River Outfitters is one on my list.  Thanks, hunt it!

Jack, I heard disturbing stories about LUO several years ago... will definitely try elsewhere.  Thanks

Hey Guys,
I hunted with luo several years ago and took a two week hunt just incase I missed the migration, and saw very few animals. They could not move us like they said, and we walked to some of the other camps they had (5-miles) no critters any where. No heat in the tents, they ran out of fuel. The food was ok, no cook in camp just a camp care taker that drove the boat only. Went to Labrador a couple of years later, worse results. Bad food, no critters, paid extra for a flight to find some animals no results. Got back to Quebec are truck was broken into and our trailer was stolen. My advice, STAY AWAY FROM QUEBEC!!!!

Hunt it - Is Kevin from high north outfitters one and the same ?  Good reviews online.

leaf river lodge lists a different outfitter.  Not the same outfit ?

Can you help clarify.  thanks.

My advice would be to stay out of Quebec!!!! If anything can go wrong it will in Quebec! No caribou and the outfitters don't care, Promise to move you to more productive camps and do not!, never go if there are gun hunters in camp, never hunt on a lake, rivers are much longer and increase your odds of seeing caribou!
BEEN THERE DONE THAT- BOUGHT THE T SHIRT!! NEVER AGAIN!! With all the complaints most Quebec outfitters still claim 98% kills on 2 caribou !!

There are 2 sides to every story. I hunted with LUO in 99 & had a great hunt. I also hunted with Tuttulik in 06 & had a great hunt. I love Quebec & plan on going back. It is truely Gods country. Do your homework & you can have a great adventure.

Gordy,

Your 100% on that one thanks for correcting me. It's High North thats Kevin's outfit, I always get the two mixed up. I can tell you Kevin will cancel his hunters before he lets them come to camp where there is no caribou. As I mentioned above this has only happened once that I can recollect as these guys are way farther north than the Schefferville outfitters and that is also why you pay bigger $$$. The guys that outfit of of Fort Chimo have way more invested in building camps.

Well I have went to Quebec once and had a great trip
there where four of us in camp all archers and we got our two bou's a piece.I for one hope to get back up there in a few years was a high lite of my life thus far!
We use Norpack adventures Silvie will set you up.
The migration was not on but there were plenty of animals to chase, this was you cook for yourself and get after it on your own. However the camp manager was very, very helpful. Good luck!
