Journeyman Smith Test Knives
« on: June 08, 2008, 01:22:00 PM »
I thought I wold post a pic of the knives I submitted for my Jourenyman Smith testing this year. I had a group shot done before the Blade Show, but, sadly, it was overexposed. The photogra[pher was able to put this together from the individual shots.
They will never be in the same room again, or, for that matter, on the same continent! We'll just have to live with this.
I like to use many variable handle types and I don't just stick with one type of knife assembly. I like hot bluing, as well as simple stainless. Anyway, I mixed it up some.
There was W1, W2, (both with nice hamons) and 5160.
Not only that, but four of the five were Take-downs. The hunter was the only fixed-assembly.
I only got one "ding" from the six judges, (which was next to nothing), and that was a matter of not seeing a few things in my shop lighting that I saw when I got to Atlanta! (I'll be changing a few lights around!)
I'm sure some of you will recognize a few of these from postings when they were completed.
So, for your enjoyment:

When the last deer disappears into the morning mist,
When the last elk vanishes from the hills,
When the last buffalo falls on the plains,
I will hunt mice for I am a hunter and I must have my freedom.

Nice photography, but no photo will do those knives justice.  I got to see them with my own eyeballs, they were really nice.
