Success at Fox River Knife Rendezvous
« on: July 20, 2008, 10:31:00 AM »
If I'm not mistaken, I have the privelege of posting the first photo of the results of our VERY successful turn-out at the Fox River Knife Rendezvous!
This thread - or maybe another - will get further participation and MANY more photos, but this is the way it turned out.
A brief rundown of the progress was that each stage of the creation of this knife and its accessories was performed by different artisans.
This is only a brief sketch of events and many names and tasks need to be elaborated upon.
Billet forged by Peter Martin.
Knife forged by Jerry Rados.
Knife ground by Michael Kanter of Adam Michael Knives.
File work by Ron Rosenbaugh.
Knife heat treated by Rob Rossdeutscher.
Rayskin/paracord handle wrap by Tim Horan.
Damascus hand-finished, etched and knife sharpened by Karl B. Andersen.
Hand made on-site glass "Dangle Fob" for knife my Mark Nevling's wife.
Ivory Sheath "Dangle thing" by Mary Rose.
Sheath by - my bad! - I don't have his name!
Anyway, what a knife and what a day!

When the last deer disappears into the morning mist,
When the last elk vanishes from the hills,
When the last buffalo falls on the plains,
I will hunt mice for I am a hunter and I must have my freedom.
Chief Joseph

Wish I were a bit closer, that looks fun and educational.  Nice knife too.
