My weekend find...PIX
« on: July 27, 2008, 09:27:00 PM »
Well after some terrible news Friday morning, i just had to get away for the weekend. I ended up meandering through several lil stores in Indiana for 2 days looking for stuff (mainly a specific meerschaum pipe) but never found anything that caught my eye. I happened into a woodworking store and was looking for possible knife handles, and boy did i hit jackpot!

Zebra wood (2x6x6") Rosewood

some thin purple heart (1/8x3x8) smaller one is 5" long

Curley maple (1.5x1.75x11.25)

Rosewood (2x1.75x5.25) Purpleheart (1.5x0.75x6) Rosewood (1/8x3.5.25) Rosewood (1/4x3x8.25)

Best of all everything but the zebra wood was $3/lb

so i will be getting a few knife projects finished here shortly-hopefully.

Thanks for looking

Pintail, nice find on the wood.  Where are you in So Il?  By West Hotdog? (Frankfort).  I'm in west central Il between Winchester and Jacksonville.  Larry

no it didnt. I was informed that due to my injury (fell 2.5 stories roofing) i need to have back surgery. Being 22yo, that is not what i wanted to hear. Doc told me to look into another profession (i have a BS degree in Forestry with a minor in Admin. of Justice, working on my Masters degree starting in Aug.) I have always wanted to be a federal game warden...if the surgery dont fix it, that plan will be scrapped. But the good news is, i survived the fall and walked away. Still able to do some of the things i like-just a lil slower.lol

Keep your chin up, the surgery may fix you right up and allow you to pursue your dreams.  May be what you need.  Sometimes you have to take a step backward in order to take two steps forward.

Hey bro, I hope you make a full recovery! This may sound weird but things happen for a reason, we all "fall" at some point in our lives some just land harder than others.  You were suposed to leave that job,  the "Master Planner" has something else in store for you! It will become clear to you later. I hope you find your career dream!
