Greatest capper ever...
« on: October 30, 2008, 02:44:00 PM »
My good friend who used to hang around my shop from time to time and would give me a few pointers on knife making bow refinishing or whatever else he thought I needed guidence in.And if you know me very well you know I could sure use some guidence sometimes.Well anyhow my buddy kicked the bucket a couple months ago.I was bummed out really bad about his untimely death at only 42 years old. That really sucked. But life goes on and I know he would not want anyone setting around crying in thier soup about it eather. So I got that behind me I hope and looking forward I guess you might say..OK enough about that.Anyhow he give me a peace of a blade of some sort(maybe an old knife blade)to make a capper mostly for capping out bears skulls. The steel and I'am gonna spell this one wrong or even worse its not the correct name of the steel even Chrome Vanadieum I beleave. There was acid etching on the blade and I'am pretty sure thats what it said but again not possitive.I figured what the heck I ai'nt to good at this knife making stuff and I've only done a few over the years. But my buddy would sure be happy if I would at least do something with the darn peace of steel.I managed to salvage enough from the blade he gave me to make this little capper.I know I know guy's she ai'nt nothen like any of you fellows ultra fine beautiful work by any means. And I surely ai'nt going to quit my day job any time soon and get into the knife business. But thats some great steel and it takes one super good edge.I will get a pic up asap..Thanks guy's for looking and thank you Daryl R.I.P.my friend....bowdoc

Nice little blade doc. Question - You have a day job?  :D

Sorry about your buddy.  But that blade will likely be your favorite, as it should.  Looks nice and very functional.  You better hang onto that one!
