Camp Knife

I recently finished this Camp Knife and thought I'd post it. It has a 9 3/4 inch blade of 5160 with a Scotchbrite finish, a Stainless guard, and Green Linen Micarta for the handle. The Overall Length is 14 7/8. This blade pattern is my favorite cutter. Lin

I'm still like a 10 year old when it comes to chopping stuff.  I just love it!  That looks like it would really do the trick, too.  That handle shape is my favorite for a big chopper.  I like the choice of material, too.  Great Package!

How thick is it at the spine?

The spine thickness at the ricasso is about 1/4 inch, tapering toward the tip, it's about 3/16 in the middle.

I cleared a path though some sapplings to one of my deer stands with this one and it worked well. Camp knives will almost replace a hatchet. I just finished another one with Bois'd arc for the handle. I may keep it. Lin

Very Awsome Linn!!!How about telling us how you get a scotchbright finish???
Linn after working that hard to get it beautifull how in the world could you cut brush with it???

Very nice!
I'm still a kid when it comes to chopping stuff also. Now that my son is getting older I have a good excuse to buy machetes and hawks. Someday I'll give a try to make a camp knife, of course it won't look near as good as that! More like an old file that I put to the grinder!
You do outstanding work....of course, you already knew that!  :)

Thanks for the kind words.

I have a Scotchbright belt for my 2 X 72 grinder, so after I go as far as I can with regular sanding belts, I use the SB to blend it all and smooth up any final sanding scratches. It's definitely a working finish and not so much for looks. That way I can clean it up easily after I use it to chop brush or get sap on it. Lin
