This is the knife in the Sporting Classic Magazine. I must point out that this was a paid advertisement and no special kudos to me. The other pic and write up was complimentary by the magazine, which was a gracious move on their part.

I will gladly tell you how the blade came to be. A friend had me make the damascus using a plow point from a farm somewhere in Kansas. She ended up giving it to the farmer who owns the land and allows her to hunt there. Anyway, I used either material actually found on the farm or material indigenous to the farm to construct the knife. The barbed wire motif was my idea using a form of relief etching while finishing the damascus.

I brought the blade to full finish. Heat treat, hand sanding, etc. then drew the barbed wire on the smooth surface of the blade with asphaltum varnish thinned slightly with Turpentine. I did this with a small artist paintbrush. I let it dry and etched like normal, afterward, I wiped the varnish off with Turpentine and that's it. Proceeded with the guard and handle. The sheath had barbed wire tooling on it too. Lin

Thanks, Lin.
You inspire me.
