I knew I shouldn'ta looked in here!
Doc, that spalted oak is awful pretty, and the sheath sends it into a whole 'nother world. I saw Ms. Parker's stuff at ATAR one year and was totally wowed.

Now, y'all just leave her quillwork alone, and I might be able to control myself. Puts a hollow little ache underneath the bottom of my ribcage.

Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.

Killie,
Being a dog lover, you may remember a few years back...Rebecca had made a neck sheath for the knife I made son when his dog had been hit by a car.  He climbed a mountain in Crested Butte during the winter to lay Bear to rest.  The following spring he took Bear's bones back to the Arkansas River where Bear loved to go white water rafting.  He gave him back to the water...except for a bone I added to his knife.

Time finally healed the wound and Zack is getting another Aussie to train for Search & Rescue.  That seems to be his calling as he does that in Crested Butte and up on Mt McKinley during the spring climbing season.  Sorry to go on like this but you just brought that all back...Doc

I remember that story. It's a good one. Zack is one of those people that I am glad are on the Earth right now. You know,one of the folks that make you smile to know they are around doing their thing.

Like I am glad you are doing yours, and Rebecca is doing hers. Good folks making the world a little more palatable.
