Thanks to this site i made my first knife.
« on: February 02, 2009, 02:26:00 PM »
First off thanks to the gangers and the wealth of info on here and the how to section. I got an old lawnmower blade and went to work. I did the basic torch heat treating (annealing, quenching and oven temper). I had some scrap black walnut from a table project i used for the scales. couple of coats of danish oil then several of superglue and buffed with 0000 steel wool.

Man, I have have learned a lot. it is heavy. the next one i will drill out some of the tang to reduce weight. it is 8 1/4"s OAL. I started making a sheath this weekend, I think leather working is harder than knife making  :knothead:

what do you guys think.
