Helle Lappland Finished
« on: February 19, 2009, 04:13:00 PM »
Bought this blade about a year ago, and just didn't get the inspiration till now. It's a big blade, but really handles well...designed too handle all the daily chores of the Norwegian Lapplanders...should do a nice job on a caribou!

Finished it about a week ago, but the weather has been so bad here, I was unable to do pics!

Helle Lappland blade, elk antler and pau ferro handle, single copper pin, CA finish. OAL 14.5" Blade 8"

The last pic should give you an idea of size.

If anyone has any sheath ideas, please feel free to post, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for looking!      :bigsmyl:

Awesome work! I used a similar blade and reprofiled it to use on a bowie. That is a great looking knife. Looks like you'll need a big chunk of leather! LOL!

Love how the antler flares at the blade!  Nice!

I built one of those and made a standard 2 piece bowie type sheath it worked good need to put some lace at the bottom to tie it to your leg so it wont be flopping around thems big blades .

Sweet. I have a hip quiver made out of Bison hide that would be about the right size for a sheath for it. lol
