Trad Gang Hammer-in?
« on: June 03, 2009, 09:33:00 PM »
Where could we hold a Trad Gang Hammer-in?
Not only that, but when?
This  year?
Next year?
Wouldn't that be a good idea?
Georgia? Arkansas? Tennessee? Missouri? Illinois? Montana? etc.?
Combo Hammer-in/bow shoot?
Let's kick that around and maybe we could start a tradition of it.
Just a thought.
When the last deer disappears into the morning mist,
When the last elk vanishes from the hills,
When the last buffalo falls on the plains,
I will hunt mice for I am a hunter and I must have my freedom.

I might consider being the Hammer-in Czar if you'll be the Hammer-in Emperor.

We talked about doing one in the NE last year, but that didn't happen for one reason or another.

Things are going to get real crazy around home come Jan 2010 and travel will be out of the question.  Shhh... I'm not supposed to tell yet!    :bigsmyl:

I know that some fo you have been to Batson's at Tannehill in Alabama. These are just my thoughts, but that seems like a perfect venue, since there is lots of beautiful, open area and the knife making has such variety. I am determined to get back down there this coming Spring. Lin

I am not a blacksmith, but I would love to attend one just so I could possibly pick up some tips as well as the confidence to try making a forged knife. I have 30 acres in Freestone County Texas that I would be happy to host a Hammer in early next year at. I have no blacksmithing equipment, but I have a belt sander, grinder and a drill press. There is no electricity there though. There is water and a 900 square foot open wall pole barn as well as a small (800 sf)cabin with a wood burning stove.

The closest neighbor in the area is 1/2 mile away so if someone wanted to bring a generator to run power tools that would be OK.

I someone is interested in setting something up PM me.

Possibly next year same week of the Blade Show in GA, and would be great if JC's shoot was same week too.
Could be set up like this, or similar:
Hammer in Thursday
Blade Show Fri - Sunday
Shoot at JC's when you can
