Tres Amigos
« on: August 21, 2009, 12:04:00 PM »
I got invited to show at a Safari Club International banquet and made these up so I could get some new entry-level customers.
Some of the same stabilized spalted maple I've used in the recent past, but I also sent some Osage out to be stabilized that I acquired about 10 years ago that was cut down in '64. I've got 8 logs of it.
To be honest, I like it the best of the three.
Osage, even though rather plain-grained, always manifests a mellow richness that I admire not only in bows, but in knives as well.
Blades were forged from 52100 round stock.
Somethin' a little different.

When the last deer disappears into the morning mist,
When the last elk vanishes from the hills,
When the last buffalo falls on the plains,
I will hunt mice for I am a hunter and I must have my freedom.

Beautiful, Karl...I really like that spalted wood.

Looking forward to making some knives like that, my forge should be done real soon.

Guess I'd better get some steel to you then, huh?
