A new Tippit knife
« on: January 09, 2010, 03:39:00 PM »
Here are some pics of the finest blade I've ever held in my hand. I put Sappy Cherry scales on it and made a sheath. It came SCARY sharp. I hope to break it in yet this season. We have till Feb 7th.

Thanks Jeff!

The blade was buffed but my wetness protection didn't work very well when I soaked the sheath and let it dry with the knife in it. The patina looks cool but I'll probably buff it out some.

ole tippit sure does make a pretty blade
those cherry scales look real good also
try rubbing lightly with flitz metal polish on your finger it will take of some of the heavy oxidation and slill leave a nice patina

Kenny,
Good job, that cherry handle sure makes the knife.  Dang, you got a lot of pretty wood that firewood pile of yours  :)

That 5160 stains pretty easy.  Same thing would probably happen after dressin' out a deer or bear anyway.  Besides my blades are meant to be displayed with blood on 'em!

Glad you like it...heck some people are just easy to please with an old throw away blade.     tippit

Great knife Kenny.  Nice work on the sheath as well.  Hope to see this one if you make it ATAR next year.  I have one of tippits blades as well.  Very nice knives.

Hey Kenny,
Thats a beauty right there, you lucky son of a gun!! I've been after Jeff to do some tradin with me for one of his blades seems like forever. LoL.  One thing leads to another,I get busy makin stone knives,he of corse is always busy doin somthin or another and we just never connect.Oh Well, maybe some day.   Jeff is right though.  Those cherry scales really set that blade off nicely.
Hope ya get her bloody before the season is over.
I reckon so
