One More time
« on: February 06, 2010, 07:28:00 PM »
Another file reclaimed to a sharp pointy thing.
Brazillian cherry outer scales (hardwood flooring sample from a friend)
and something from an exotic pack I bought for inner scales.
I think that I left the outer scales to thick. Critic Me
anyway here is another attempt.

Looks comfy,I probably wouldnt have thought of it if you hadnt said something-But it might look nice if you tapered them in in front to show off the inner wood more.Good job
Measure twice, cut once, then beat it to fit

Good work.  I like your sheath...

I think I'd narrow the handle down a bit... Seems unbalanced that way. But my handle is too thin. So who am I too say anything???

Hey Folks thanks for the kind words and the help!
I am having a hard time learning the shaping.I know improvment is happening(BUT I WANT IT NOW.
I have had about 10 people hold the knife. A full 90% have said it's to thick.
The one that did not say that is 6'8" tall and about 400# He thought that it felt real good but was to short.LOL!
 It's all about perspective!

P.S. I will take it back to the shop and file some more and refinish.I must like learning things the hard way!

That sheath looks awesome.  I love the nice thick stitching and heavy soft leather.

I have to agree that the scales are to thick by about 1/3 on each side.  The question is does it fit your hand comfortably?  If it does and you plan to keep it then your doing great.  If you want to sell it, many customers would want a more balanced handle width.

The front of the handle also looks to thin, not as in wide, but vertically along the blade.  This is just my personal view.  Most people look for balance in the overall design of a knife they want to buy.

The work and finish look good.
