well i will start off with my search for a real anvil the i could afford. my great uncle was a blacksmith and his peter write anvil is at our shop but it does have badly rounded egdes. i was told that i could use it and even resurface it. but being that my gradpa uncle used it my grandfather used and my father used it i was alittle scared to change it from the history it has. my gradpa on my moms side died quite a few years back. she got remaried and mr goble has been asimalated into my family. last cold snap i was on his land fixing water line that had froze and busted and nocticed an anvil on the floor of the shop. i didnt say anything about just kinda looked at it. its a hay budden and looks to be 125# to 150# i didnt have light to look for actual numbers. i knew he could not use it(he can barely get on his tractor now from years of hard work) so the other day i asked him if he would sell it to me. he told me to come by and get. he said that is was his grandpas and none of his sons could or would use it so he just gave it to me. its perfect , the edges are not super crisp, but its close and good surface. so now this week end i get to finish my gas forge, pick up a new to me anvil and get this new shop up and going. i will post pics when i get everything where i want it. (can you tell im excited)
