Damascus Hunter
« on: March 04, 2010, 06:23:00 PM »
I really don't know how many of these I have made, but as long as good people keep ordering them, I'll keep making them - right?
Anyway, every now and then a combination of materials comes along that really gets my attention, and that's what happened here.
I really like the way the stainless sets off both the African Blackwood and the chatoyance in the hot-blued blade.
The blade is a lower count than I normally make - 324 - but I feel it suits this knife quite well. (I normally bump the 400 layer count)
I hope ya'll enjoy it as well as I did.

When the last deer disappears into the morning mist,
When the last elk vanishes from the hills,
When the last buffalo falls on the plains,
I will hunt mice for I am a hunter and I must have my freedom.

Very nice Karl.  I think the lower count damascus looks great, as well as the blackwood (that's very nicely figured).

Karl, Dan beat me to it with his comments!  I also like the damascus and the blackwood is the nicest I have ever seen!

You always create a great knife!

I also like the look of the lower count, wonder if it is something to do with the match to the blackwood grain.  As others have said that is a very nice example of blackwood.

Again, all I can say is WOW Karl.

I am proud to own it and I thank you for making it for me. It turned out just perfect.
