Title gotcha - didn't it?

This was a true pleasure to build.
One of those knives that comes along where I enjoy every minute.
The 7 1/2" W2 blade was clay processed for a nice hamon.
I was lucky enough, quite a few years ago, to acquire a nice stash of 1903 wrought iron. I used a piece of 1" round and twisted it, and then forged it back flat, for the guard. This was etched for an hour to show the beautiful figure within.
Now, that handle is something new to me. I got it from Chuck Bybee and it is called "Afzelia Lay".
I've used Afzelia many times, but I think the term "Lay" has to do with the direction of the cut. (Wish I had a bushel basket of it!)
Regardless, it's just knock-out stuff.
Balances right between the Maker's Mark and the face of the guard.
Please stop by and see it in Atlanta.

Now I'm gonna go work on my 'Brute de Forge' Folding Tactical Fillet Knife for Survivalist Cowboys......
........with a serrated gut-hook!

Nice!  Really like that pointy point and long clip.
I'm on my way to pick up about a ton of 1909 lion cage from the Memphis zoo.  They replaced it about 20 years ago.  This is mostly 3/4" round wrought iron bars.

That is a *nice* tool right there!

I would really like to check out the balance point first hand, but I won't be makin' it to Atlanta this year.
