Show you favorite knife!
« on: May 09, 2010, 04:18:00 AM »
I don't know if this is the right dept. but I'll give it a try! My favorite knife is the Boone from Bark River. The Boone was the most popular of the Wade & Butcher Knives.

Here are the specs:
Overall Length: 9.125 Inches
Blade Length: 5 Inches
Blade Thickness: .187 Inch
Blade Steel: 52-100 @ 58 rc
Weight: 6.4 Ounces

The handle is made of Desert Ironwood, genuine Warthog tusk and black and silver spacers. It's one of a kind. The handle fits my hand like it was custom made for me. Like all Bark Rivers, the blade is scarey sharp and strops up easily on the BR leather strop.
As always, the photo doesn't do the knife any justice and the wood is much darker...

If you wanna see it bigger, just click on the pick!

A single band-aid speaks volumes.

Favorite knife, or the one I use the most?
I gotta pick one? No way. Why do ya think God made so many?

And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.

Couldn't choose just one.  These are the ones I use for skinning.  Made for me by a friend in Michigan.  Had read an article where the author used a knapped ulu.  Asked my friend to knapp one for me - I added the handle and sheath for the obsidian, but like using the flint one just as is.  I always manage to cut a couple holes in the hide when skinning a deer.  Skinned 4 deer with these last season and not a single hole!

This is my main skinner that was made by a fellow named Bakke from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan back in 1997. It has a Manitoba maple burl handle and I believe the blade was made with a forge from a spring from an old car. I love this knife, it is beautiful and very sharp.

This knife is particularly special to me because it was a gift from my wife. I saw it and really wanted it but at the time the $125 price tag was way too much for us.  I had forgotten all about it and she totally surprised me with it for my birthday. I am a truely blessed man.

Here are a few pictures.
